At Amity International School Amsterdam students in Early Years (3-6 years old) learn and develop through an inquiry and play-based curriculum. Through play our children explore and develop learning experiences which help them make sense of the world around them. Our programme embraces that young children thrive when they are interested, engaged and active in their own learning. At AISA, this inquiry and play-based approach is underpinned by the International BaccalaureateÒ (IB) Primary Years Programme. The PYP promotes the exploration of global and local issues through relevant and engaging units of inquiry. These units are guided by four transdisciplinary themes and integrate learning in language, mathematics, science, social studies and the arts, as well as developing personal, social and physical education. Learning experiences are meaningful, inclusive and multi-sensory, in order to provoke the students’ natural curiosity and interests. The PYP encourages students to take responsibility for their own learning and challenges them to become active world citizens through the IB learner profile. The whole school community are actively involved in creating a holistic learning environment.
